How I read so many books

How I read so many books

Well when I say ‘read’ what I actually meant was listen.

Yes I don’t always read books but I do listen to quite a few and to be honest it has been a game changer.  I am a huge fan of audio books and also podcasts.  Sometimes I find it hard to block out parts of my day for reading so instead I will put on an audio book while driving to work, or even when I go to the gym.  It allows me to take in information even when I am doing things.  Due to this simple change I have been able to listen to several books in the last few months!

I still enjoy reading but adding the audio books in allows me to consume more at a faster rate.  I recommend using autobiographies for listening but I also listen to books on business, self improvement, and marketing.

What app I use

The app I use is audible which is owned by amazon.  It is the most popular audio book app due to the size of its library.  with over 200,000+ titles to choose from there is something for everyone.  Below is a look at the membership plans audible offers.

1 credit= 1 title, this is the plan that I use and for me it is more than enough.

For me Audible is a no brainer as it has the biggest selection of books and has the backing of one of the biggest companies in the world, AMAZON.

I personally use the £7.99 a month plan as it is more then enough for me. Some books are longer than others so sometimes I am listening to less than a book a month so a few credits build up over time.  I like this though as I usually have around 3 credits at a time so I will buy 3 all at once then I know what my listening material is for the next while, keeps me organised and motivated to keep listening.

Types of books you should (could) listen to

This part is completely up to yourselves but I personally like to listen to a few different genres but mainly stick to around 3 main ones.  These would be Business, Self Improvement and Auto-biographies.  In saying that though I have bought books on completely unrelated topics, but these 3 areas would be the most common for me.

Auto-biographies would be my favourite to listen to and they would be the best choice in my opinion.  The reason is I say this is because stories are simply much easier to follow and enjoy.  They don’t need much thought but can provide massive value and entertainment.  This can be said about other types of books also but nothing compared to auto-biographies.  A few of my favourites include:

  • Elon Musk-Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future
  • The subtle art of not giving a fuck- Mark Manson
  • Kevin Hart- I cant make this up
  • Jordan Belfort- way of the wolf
  • Richard Branson- Losing/Finding my virginity
  • Phil Knight- Shoe Dog
  • The one thing- Gary Keller

I could make a list as long as my arm but these are a few I highly recommend for now.

Hope you found the information helpful.  I couldn’t recommend Audible enough it has been such a useful app for me and I continue to use it everyday.  There are other audio book apps out there so it might be worth your while looking at them but for me Audible is the best due to its library selection and price.

Thanks for reading.
