How to generate an endless amount of content ideas

It’s been a while but I’m back with another post filled with value and wisdom (as always).  Today, I am going to give you some tips on how you can generate an endless amount of content ideas.

This may not be totally relevant to you, if you feel that you aren’t some sort of content creator, but please read on because I am going to share some interesting insights that I think anyone can benefit from.

It is ironic that I am currently writing a post about coming up with an endless amount of content ideas, but I haven’t actually published a piece of content on the blog for a while.

Oops.

Don’t worry though, it’s not due to the fact that my fountain of knowledge has suddenly experienced a drought.  Nor have I ran out of time to do it (literally the worst excuse ever btw).  I just haven’t made the blog a priority at the moment.

But I am okay with that.  I still enjoy writing and now is as good a time as ever to pick it back up again.

Enough of the life update, you can all stop worrying about me now.  Lets get into how we can get those content ideas flowing!

P.S. I redesigned the website, but I am still undecided on it.  Let me know if you like it or have any suggestions. generate

The source of all knowledge

So if we lived in the 12th century the source of all knowledge would probably be a library, or the local witch doctor.

Either way, thankfully we live in modern times and the source of all knowledge is at our finger tips.

The internet.

The internet can be a blessing but also a curse.  There is actually too much information out there at times.  One article will tell you to do one thing and on the other hand, another article will tell you the complete opposite.

That being said, there are a few specific platforms that I use to try and generate some content ideas from.

These are in no particular order and I may not use them all as equally as each other, but for me they have been extremely useful in the past and even to this day.

I have excluded Google from this list as I feel that is everyone’s go-to when searching for anything and everything!

Still a great tool to use btw!

Quora

Quora is such a unique platform where users will ask specific questions and then other users will answer it for them.

It’s like when you type in a question to google to find the answer.  Only with Quora, the answer finds you and usually with great detail as well as adding a personal perspective to the answer.

Lets look at the example below.

I have chosen the subject of Vikings in this example.  Mainly due to the fact I am obsessed with the show The Last Kingdom right now, but the subject is not important.

Look at the quality and the detail of the answer given.

No doubt you could have done a google search and found this information out yourself, but with Quora you can let the platform do all the work and bring high quality answers to you.

What I like even more about the platform is that I can also see what other related questions people are asking.  This then gives me inspiration for when it comes to generating content ideas.

Imagine you were interested in morning routines.  Have a look at the questions people are asking on Quora.  Some of these questions have been asked quite recently, which indicates to me it’s still a relevant topic.

All you need to do is look through all the questions being asked and take a note of some potential content ideas.  You will be surprised at what you might find.

In fact, ask some questions yourself and see what response you get.  Or better yet, answer some questions others have posted.

FYI I done a blog post on morning routines a while back so CLICK HERE to check it out.

youTube

Yes, YouTube is a fantastic platform to not only procrastinate your life away on, but can also be very beneficial when it comes to finding content ideas.

The reason I am such a fan of YouTube is because of its recommended video selections.

Take a look at the side bar which is circled in red.  I was searching for ‘content ideas for your blog’ and while I watch one video, I get a whole selection of related videos, which can be used for generating my own content ideas.

Not every video will be related to your chosen topic, but the further down the YouTube rabbit hole you go, the more tailored the videos will be for your experience.

Ever go on YouTube and find the exact video you wanted to watch without having to directly search for it?  That’s the YouTube Gods (algorithm) knowing what type of videos you have searched for in the past, and serving them to you without having to lift a finger.

If you want to have a look at me talking awkwardly on camera, then check out my YouTube channel HERE.

Reddit

Reddit is an online forum where people upload content and links based on certain topics of interest.

The variety and different types on content is unlimited and you can always find interesting conversations going on.

Maybe you like to talk about current events and hot topics? Then Reddit is certainly an appropriate platform as you can access these at the click of a button.

Either way, the platform can be an interesting read, or a great source for generating content ideas.

Facebook groups

Another great and underrated source for generating content ideas is Facebook groups.

From a content creators point of view, it is a great place to get an idea of what your audience might like and how you can best serve them.

Even if you don’t fall into the category of a content creator, Facebook is a social media platform, therefore having groups like this allows people to have meaningful social exchanges which can benefit both parties.

What I am trying to say is instead of using Facebook as a place to waste time and search for the most outrageous memes, try joining a few Facebook groups that are of interest and see what value you can give, or get out of them.

Who doesn’t love a good meme though.
